David L. Crowe

David L. Crowe has successfully litigated a wide range of cases involving personal injury, premises liability, products liability, property damage, construction site accidents, elder abuse, subrogation and workers compensation over a 25-year career as a civil litigation attorney.

Mr. Crowe joined the San Francisco litigation office of CIGNA Corporation in 1982, where he defended both civil and workers compensation cases. During his tenure at CIGNA, Mr. Crowe also managed CIGNA's San Jose litigation office for 8 years, where in addition to his duties as a manager, he was the designated SIU attorney. As a managing attorney, he continued to actively litigate cases, including a case in which he was the lead defense counsel for a two month pediatric brain injury trial that resulted in a defense verdict.

Mr. Crowe moved to State Farm Insurance Company in 2000, as the supervising attorney for their San Francisco property and auto subrogation recovery unit. Prior to joining Knox Ricksen LLP in 2003, Mr. Crowe was a senior litigation attorney for Kemper Insurance Companies, where he handled a wide variety of insurance defense matters.

Among the cases handled by Mr. Crowe are:

  • A defense verdict in a pediatric brain injury case for a private school after a two month jury trial.
  • Successful defense of a municipality in a flood case brought by 85 homeowners.    
  • A defense verdict for a homeowners association in a bicycle accident involving permanent shoulder injury.
  • Wrongful death case against an assisted living facility and retired peace officer.
  • Elder Abuse case involving significant burns to a resident of a residential care facility.
  • Jury trials in Alameda, San Francisco, San Mateo, Sonoma, Santa Clara, Monterey and Santa Cruz Counties including motor vehicle; premises liability; and construction site accidents.
