Reid M. Miller
Reid M. Miller joined Knox Ricksen in 2006 as a Law Clerk and is now an Associate with the firm. His litigation practice focuses on insurance litigation, personal injury and wrongful death, environmental and toxic torts, as well as insurance bad faith. Mr. Miller also specializes in the comprehensive handling of complex and large-scale fraud related litigation, including qui tam actions brought pursuant to the California Insurance Frauds Prevention Act (California Insurance Code, § 1871.7) against individuals and entities engaging in unfair and fraudulent practices such as illegal ownership of professional corporations, medical and chiropractic fraud, health care billing fraud, staged accident schemes, and auto body fraud.
Mr. Miller recently served as part of the trial team that secured a winning jury verdict on behalf of the plaintiffs in an insurance bad faith suit. Mr. Miller also regularly contributes to fraud-related professional associations and has authored several articles for the Northern California Fraud Investigators Association analyzing issues related to the investigation and prosecution of persons and entities engaged in health care fraud.
While still in law school, Mr. Miller served as a law clerk for the San Francisco Office of the Public Defender. There he assisted in the representation of clients in both the felony and misdemeanor divisions. Mr. Miller gained valuable experience in the fast-paced litigation world, assisting in daily court conferences, pre-trial hearings, and court proceedings. Mr. Miller credits his work with the Public Defender for imparting a broader sense of equity and fairness that he continues to bring to his own client advocacy.
Mr. Miller also served as Managing Editor of the Golden Gate University Law Review, publishing a Case Note analyzing a Ninth Circuit Court decision dealing with copyright law and the practice of music sampling. Mr. Miller’s other law school accolades include the Law Review Award for Dedication and Excellence for the class of 2007, Merit Scholarship Recipient, and the Witkin Award for Academic Excellence in Writing and Research II.
