Melissa Marquez is an associate in the Los Angeles office of Knox Ricksen.

Melissa’s practice focuses on representing insurance carriers against healthcare fraud. She has experience handling complex litigation and high-stakes matters with an emphasis on actions based on California’s Insurance Fraud Prevention Act.

Melissa is skilled in handling all stages of complex civil litigation, from inception through verdict. She has intensive experience in preparing discovery matters, pre-trial motions, deposition prep, pleading challenges, and conducting comprehensive investigations. Her detail-oriented and strategic approach has helped achieve countless positive case resolutions in high-exposure qui tam actions on behalf of insurance carriers.

In 2021, Melissa participated in the successful prosecution of a qui tam lawsuit that resulted in securing a multi-million-dollar judgment on behalf of Allstate Insurance Company and the State of California. This matter involved the running and operation of law offices by unlicensed persons, the filing of fraudulent claims, and the laundering of settlement proceeds.
