Associate Attorney – Insurance Defense Litigation (Remote – Texas)

The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Remote Associate Attorney with 5+ years of insurance defense litigation experience to join our Texas team.  While the position is remote, occasional travel for case related matters may be required.

This position is ideal for an attorney who enjoys managing a insurance-defense litigation caseload, developing creative legal strategies, and taking ownership of cases from inception through resolution. You’ll have the autonomy to handle your own matters while collaborating with experienced litigators on challenging and rewarding cases.

Our attorneys are encouraged to think strategically, take depositions, argue motions, participate in mediations, and prepare cases for trial while enjoying the flexibility of a remote work environment backed by a highly supportive team. The position includes an annual billable hour expectation of 1,850 hours, supported by a steady flow of sophisticated litigation and a collaborative team committed to delivering exceptional client service.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a caseload of complex insurance defense matters from inception through resolution
  • Develop litigation strategy in partnership with clients and senior attorneys
  • Conduct legal research and draft pleadings, motions, and appellate-quality briefs
  • Take and defend depositions
  • Responsible for day-to-day case ownership and proactive management
  • Prepare and respond to written discovery
  • Attend hearings, mediations, and settlement conferences
  • Collaborate with clients, experts, and opposing counsel throughout the litigation process
  • Prepare cases for trial and participate in all phases of trial when necessary
  • Maintain exceptional client service and timely communication

Qualifications

  • Active license to practice law in Texas and in good standing
  • 5+ years of insurance defense litigation experience
  • Demonstrated ability to independently manage a litigation caseload
  • Strong legal writing, analytical, and advocacy skills
  • Experience handling depositions, hearings, motion practice, and mediation
  • Trial preparation experience preferred
  • Self-motivated with outstanding organizational and time management skills
  • Comfortable working in a fully remote, collaborative environment

Compensation & Benefits

Salary: $170,000–$200,000 annually, depending on experience.

Associate Attorney – Complex Fraud Litigation (Remote – California)

The Opportunity

Knox Ricksen LLP is seeking an experienced remote California-licensed Associate Attorney with 3+ years of civil litigation experience to join our Complex Fraud Litigation practice.

This position offers the opportunity to litigate sophisticated civil fraud cases involving intricate factual investigations, extensive discovery, motion practice, depositions, and trial preparation. The ideal candidate enjoys solving complex legal issues, developing case strategy, and advocating in high-stakes litigation.

This is a fully remote position for a motivated attorney who thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced environment and is passionate about pursuing complex civil litigation. The position includes an annual billable hour expectation of 1,850 hours, supported by a steady flow of sophisticated litigation and a collaborative team committed to delivering exceptional client service.

Responsibilities

  • Case Planning & Strategy – Develop and execute strategic case plans for complex fraud litigation matters from inception through resolution.
  • Discovery – Manage all phases of written discovery, document production, and discovery strategy.
  • Depositions – Prepare for, take, and defend depositions of parties, witnesses, and other key individuals.
  • Motion Practice – Research, draft, and argue substantive and dispositive motions throughout the litigation process.
  • Responsible for day-to-day case ownership and proactive management
  • Client Reporting & Communication – Provide timely case assessments, strategic recommendations, and ongoing updates to clients.
  • Expert Management – Identify, retain, prepare, and collaborate with expert witnesses to support case strategy and trial preparation.
  • Hearings & Court Appearances – Represent clients at hearings, conferences, mediations, and other court proceedings.
  • Trial Preparation – Prepare matters for trial, including developing trial strategy, preparing witnesses and exhibits, coordinating experts, and assisting with all phases of trial.

Qualifications

  • Licensed to practice law in California and in good standing with the State Bar of California.
  • 3+ years of civil litigation experience
  • Experience managing cases from inception through resolution
  • Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills
  • Exceptional critical thinking and problem-solving abilities
  • Experience taking and defending depositions, drafting and arguing motions, and managing discovery
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a remote team
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple complex matters simultaneously
