Narmada Pandey Sapkota

Narmada Pandey Sapkota is a litigation associate with Knox Ricksen’s Texas team, where her practice focuses on representing victims of fraud.

Trained as a registered nurse, Narmada brings her healthcare background to the practice of law, giving her helpful insights into litigation strategy and case evaluation through a medical lens. She is experienced in both pretrial preparation and courtroom advocacy, having represented clients in complex medical malpractice and pharmaceutical mass-tort cases. In addition, she has worked closely with clients and lead counsel to assess risk and prepare resolution strategy in mediations. She regularly drafts and argues dispositive and procedural motions, manages discovery, conducts depositions, and assists with jury selection and expert witness preparation in complex cases.

After practicing for several years as a registered nurse in Houston, Narmada transitioned into the legal field to combine her clinical experience with her interest in healthcare law and policy. During law school, she gained extensive experience across a variety of healthcare law settings, developing a strong foundation in healthcare litigation.

Narmada began her legal training at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, where she supported the litigation team through legal research and analysis involving healthcare litigation, medical malpractice, labor and employment law, public information matters, and hospital policies and procedures.

She later served as a law clerk in the civil division of the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Texas, where she assisted with investigations involving healthcare fraud, including False Claims Act issues, fraudulent healthcare billing and reimbursement practices, Anti-Kickback Statute violations, and medical malpractice claims against government-affiliated healthcare providers. She also supported qui tam matters through relator interviews, legal research, and case analysis.

Additionally, as a law clerk for the Harris County Attorney’s Office, she drafted and reviewed healthcare procurement and service contracts, conducted legal research and analysis on federal and state healthcare regulations, assisted with HIPAA and protected health information (PHI) compliance initiatives and protocol development, and analyzed sovereign immunity issues and their impact on tort claims against governmental entities.
