Knox Ricksen LLP, a civil litigation firm representing clients in complex healthcare fraud cases, announces that Maisie C. Sokolove will become its managing partner on Jan. 1, 2024. She assumes the role from long-time managing partner Thomas E. Fraysse.

“Tom and others have developed our firm into a fraud-fighting litigation powerhouse, all while mentoring our next-generation talent. Tom will continue to support the firm, and I look forward to building on his four decades of success,” said Sokolove.

“Maisie is a top-notch lawyer whose analytic prowess shines in the preparation we do for these highly technical healthcare fraud cases,” noted Fraysse. “Her business acumen and tenure make her the perfect candidate to lead our team – both here in California and in our Texas office – into the future.”

Sokolove focuses on insurance fraud litigation, with an emphasis in healthcare. She represents insurers and other payors in affirmative civil actions to redress false, fraudulent, or misleading insurance and benefits claims. Sokolove has extensive experience litigating unfair and fraudulent business practices, as well as actions grounded in common law fraud. She regularly handles matters addressing a wide array of fraudulent conduct, from medical billing schemes to the unauthorized practice of law in the submission of insurance claims, to prescription drug fraud, to vendor misconduct in the workers’ compensation arena.

Sokolove was selected by the Daily Journal as a “Top Health Care Lawyer” in 2022, and she was named a “Rising Star” by Northern California Super Lawyers from 2010-2012. Sokolove earned her J.D. from the University of California, College of the Law (2005) and her B.A. from the University of California, Berkeley (2002).
