Knox Ricksen LLP, a civil litigation firm dedicated to fighting healthcare fraud, has added Associate Narmada Pandey Sapkota in Texas. Sapkota previously practiced healthcare and medical malpractice law at Lewis Brisbois in Dallas.

Sapkota’s experience includes extensive pretrial preparation and courtroom advocacy representing clients in complex medical malpractice and pharmaceutical mass-tort cases. In addition, she has worked closely with clients and lead counsel to assess risk and prepare resolution strategy in mediations.
After practicing as a registered nurse in Houston, Sapkota transitioned into the legal field, first as a legal intern for the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, where she supported the litigation team through legal research and analysis involving healthcare litigation, medical malpractice, labor and employment law, public information matters, and hospital policies and procedures. Her work contributed to risk assessment, regulatory compliance, and informed organizational decision-making.
During law school, she served as a law clerk in the civil division of the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Texas, where she assisted with investigation involving healthcare fraud, including False Claim Act allegations, fraudulent billing and reimbursement practices, Anti-Kickback Statute violations, and medical malpractice claims against government-affiliated healthcare providers. She also supported qui tam matters through relator interviews, legal research, and case analysis. Additionally, as a law clerk with the Harris County Attorney’s Office, Sapkota reviewed and drafted healthcare procurement and service contracts, conducted legal research on federal and state healthcare regulations, assisted with HIPAA and protected health information (PHI) compliance initiatives and protocol development, and analyzed sovereign immunity and its impact on tort claims against government entities.
Sapkota earned her J.D. from the University of Houston Law Center (2022); her M.S. in Molecular Biology from Cleveland State University (2017), her B.S., magna cum laude, in Biotechnology from Plymouth State University (2013); and her nursing credential from the Institute of Medical Technology in Nepal (2005).
